About

She received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Hacettepe University, Department of Chemical Engineering. After completing her degrees, Dr. Gümüşderelioğlu has spent more than 30 years at Hacettepe University contributing to the field of Regenerative and Restorative Medicine through both teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses and conducting research on the development of biomaterials, creation of cellular systems, in vitro and in vivo tissue engineering. Gümüşderelioğlu was a part of the founding team of the Bioengineering Division, which was established within Hacettepe University Graduate School of Science and Engineering in 1988. She is currently the head of this program.

Following her work on hematopoietic stem cells and regenerative medicine applications at Tufts University and Harvard University’s Blood Research Center between 1994-95, she initiated research projects on tissue engineering at Hacettepe University in 1996. She was awarded TÜBİTAK Science Incentive Award for her work in 1997 and Hacettepe University Science Award in 2017. She is one of the founding members of the Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering Society in Turkey and is still a member of the Board of Directors. Many national and international projects have been carried out by the Cell and Tissue Engineering Research Group established at Hacettepe University under the leadership of Gümüşderelioğlu. The group has also served to researchers from various universities around Turkey by organizing training courses on theoretical and applied tissue engineering since 2016. Dr. Gümüşderelioğlu has supervised 77 Master of Science and 30 Doctoral students. She has 150 articles published in qualified journals within the scope of SCI and 1 textbook on chemical process industries.
